REAL BACHELORETTE: ROSSINI’S CINDERELLA with WASHINGTON NATIONAL OPERA

For Stephanie’s bachelorette it was obvious that we wouldn’t be going out and doing the traditional lets drink and go to the bars or clubs scene. Stephanie (as far as I know) had never been to a bar and that was just not going to fly for her last ‘fling before the ring’! As soon as I was chosen as her maid of honor I began brainstorming ideas for her Bach – wine tasting, seeing a play, spa day. After doing some researching we decided (the bridesmaid’s and I) that we were going to go see Rossini’s Cinderella at the Washington National Opera (The Kennedy Center) with a fancy dinner before hand. The fact that it involved Cinderella spoke perfectly to who Stephanie is. She is IN LOVE with Disney, all of the songs during her wedding ceremony were Disney songs played on the organ, ‘Kiss the Girl’ from The Little Mermaid was ACTUALLY the song played during their first kiss!

What we were doing for Stephanie’s Bach was a surprise (lots of jokes about hand cuffs and blow up dolls beforehand that made her face go red!) She wanted it to be a surprise and once we decided what we were doing we all agreed to keep it a secret! The day of the Bach Stephanie went to get her hair and make up done at Sparkle Salon, California, MD. I joined her to get my hair done then we went back to my place to get dressed. The rest the attendees came to my house and we did the BIG REVEAL – I had wrapped a cute sign with a matching frame (with what we were doing in it) for her to open:

Before we told her we took some photos so she could one in the frame we got her:

We then piled into the van I was borrowing and drove up to have dinner at Carmine’s in DC. It is a yummy Italian restaurant that is to DIE FOR.

Finally, we loaded back into the van and headed to the Kennedy Center to see Cinderella!

I had a blast with Stephanie and the other girls that evening BUT I can officially say the Opera is not for me. It was in another language with subtitles (which is quite normal I am told) and the singing just went on and on – seriously the subtitles would stop projecting and they would STILL be on that last word. Bachelorette Party’s are all about having fun with your girls and doing something you normally wouldn’t do and while we didn’t get wild and crazy we definitely stepped out side of our norm with this evening.
